Letter or Inquiry
TRF does not accept unsolicited grant requests, you must be invited by the TRF board of directors. The Letter of Inquiry process is a way for your organization to introduce yourself to TRF for consideration of future support. It is intended to be a subset of the Grant Request process without requiring the level of work.
Letter of Inquiry Process
- Letter of Inquiry requests can be submitted at any time.
- TRF will acknowledge the receipt of your request within 10 days.
- Requests will be reviewed at the next TRF quarterly board meeting.
- After review, TRF will notify you:
- Invitation to submit a full grant request.
- Inquiry declined.
Letter of Inquiry Submissions
- Please collect all the relevant information (details below) in a single file for submission as an attachment to your request email.
- Complete Opportunity Fund section for consideration of funds.
- Acceptable file formats are PDF, Word or Excel. Any other formats will result in your request be returned.
- Requests should be submitted via email to info at risingfoundation.org

Organization and Contact Details
- Organization name, address and website
- Contact person name, title, phone number, email address
- Narrative of organizations purpose and ongoing programs (250 words or less)
- Non-profit status
Fiscal Sponsorship (if applicable)
Complete if you will be fiscally sponsored for your project.
- Sponsor organization name
- Relationship and terms of sponsorship (100 words, include explanation of any fees)
- Provide 501(c)3 Non-profit status
Opportunity Funds (optional)
- What BIPOC or LGBTQI+ issue is being addressed
- Connection with the Impacted Community (250 words)
- How will Impacted Community participate (250 words)
Project Information
- Project Name
- TRF Focus Area (choose one & explain)
- Expression of TRF Core Values (choose at most 3, explain in 250 words or less)
- Project description (cover how it fits with organizations purpose, 1000 words or less)
- Expected project outcomes (1000 words or less)
Project duration - Estimated cost
Partner(s)
Include the name(s) of organizations who will be working with you on this project.
- Partner Name
- Partner Role (100 words or less)
- Partner 501(c)3 Status
Supporting Documents (Word, Excel, PDF)
Include other documents as separate attachments from submission.
- Copy of IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt letter for organization (or for the projects fiscal sponsor if the organization is not tax-exempt)
